I’m so impressed with all that was accomplished at your meeting! Interesting to see the commonalities and differences in each vision/SWOT.

With regard to the Vision topic of Elderly Residents, which Julie Iffland and I were considering, here are some thoughts on the next questions which you identified.
Steps to attain the vision factors Julie and I identified and relevant to Kimball Public Library include:
(i) assembling info for elders and having it readily available to elders, in both hard copy and electronically; information about local resources regarding housing, medical care of all sorts, care providers and home helpers, financial matters, legal and end-of-life matters, transportation, crafts and workshops, and recreation. Overall, help elders get any and all the information they might need, for all aspects of their lives.
(ii) encouraging elders to gather and share their individual needs and personal experiences – perhaps by hosting gatherings, with a library staff or other facilitator – and facilitating them in communicating their views and needs to the relevant town officials or others. Overall, help elders have a voice in the community.

Elders are a huge resource! Address their power and not only our cultural perceptions of elders as in decline.
